From Driver to Owner-Operator: Kyle Eimer’s Journey with JoyRide Logistics

Every driver has a story. Kyle Eimer’s is one of hard work, determination, and turning an early interest in trucking into a career he can truly call his own.

There’s something about getting the keys to your first truck that’s hard to put into words. For Kyle Eimer, it wasn’t just about owning a truck. It was about everything that led him to that moment: the early mornings, the time spent working in the yard, the miles on the road, and the people who believed in him along the way.

Today, Kyle is taking one of the biggest steps in his trucking career: purchasing his own truck and becoming an independent owner-operator.

We caught up with Kyle to hear how it all started and what this milestone means to him.

Where Did Your Journey in Trucking Begin?

Kyle: “I actually started in the roofing industry. We used flatbed trucks to deliver materials, and I remember riding along as a helper, watching the driver do his pre-trip inspections every morning. Something about it just caught my interest.

Eventually, I got my Class B license and started driving myself. My dad, Brian Birge, was also working as a regional driver for JoyRide at the time, and he was a big influence on me.

Less than a year later, I went back to school for my Class A CDL, and nine weeks later, I had it.”

How Did You Get Your Start at JoyRide?

Kyle: “When I first applied, I didn’t have the two years of experience JoyRide required. I had just under a year of OTR experience, but JoyRide Logistics decided to give me a shot.

I started as a yard hostler on our Amazon contract.

About six months later, I got the opportunity to become a local driver. I spent almost two years doing that before moving into regional driving.

The support I got from people like Ed, our VP, and Adis, our President, meant a lot. They saw how hard I was working and believed in my potential.”

What Made You Decide to Become an Owner-Operator?

Kyle: “When JoyRide started offering owner-operator and lease opportunities, I got interested. I eventually leased a truck through the company, and that opened up a whole new side of trucking for me.

Seven months later, I decided it was time to buy my own truck.

Getting the keys to my very first truck was one of the best and most satisfying days of my trucking career.”

More Than Just a Milestone

Kyle’s journey didn’t happen overnight. From working in the yard to driving local and regional routes, and eventually owning his own truck, every step brought him closer to his goal.

His story is a reminder that sometimes all it takes is an opportunity, someone who believes in your potential, and the determination to keep going.

At JoyRide Logistics, we’re proud to have been part of Kyle’s journey, and we can’t wait to see where the road takes him next.

Congratulations, Kyle. You’ve earned those keys.

You Know When It’s JoyRide.
