JoyRide Logistics Powers the Future in NACFE’s Run on Less 2025

At JoyRide Logistics, we’ve always believed that leading the way means doing more than just keeping up, it means stepping forward, taking bold risks, and showing what’s possible. That’s why we’re proud to announce our participation in the Run on Less 2025: The Messy Middle, a groundbreaking three-week event organized by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) in collaboration with RMI.

What Is Run on Less?

The focus this year? The “Messy Middle” the complex transition period the trucking industry is in right now, where traditional diesel, biodiesel blends, natural gas, battery-electric, and hydrogen-powered trucks all coexist. There’s no single silver bullet yet. Run on Less is here to help the industry understand what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth investing in for long-haul operations

JoyRide’s Role: Battery-Electric, Real-World Ready

We’re honored to be one of the 13 fleets selected for this year’s Run. Representing the battery-electric side of the energy spectrum, JoyRide Logistics will field a Windrose Class 8 electric tractor, running long-haul routes across the hot-weather corridors of the American Southwest.

Here’s what we’ll be doing during the run:

Run on Less 2025 isn’t just a test, it’s a real-world look at how today’s trucks perform under real freight conditions. From September 8 to 30, 2025, 13 big-rig trucks from top fleets across North America will run their normal routes, hauling actual loads, and sharing daily live data with the world.

Driving the electric truck daily over the 3-week period on actual long-haul routes.

Streaming live telematics via Geotab, including energy used, miles traveled, uptime, and charging data.

Offering on-the-ground access for NACFE’s video teams and interviews to highlight our charging strategies, driver feedback, and maintenance insights.

Why It Matters – For Us, and the Industry

By participating in Run on Less 2025, JoyRide isn’t just testing a new truck, we’re pushing boundaries. Our routes and climate present a high-stakes challenge for electric trucks. That’s exactly why it’s so valuable: Can BEVs thrive in high-heat, long-haul conditions? We’re helping to find out.

And we’re doing it transparently.

Our performance, good, bad, or in between, will be visible to fleets across the country. We want the industry to see real results, ask the hard questions, and use the data to make smarter, cleaner decisions.
